A native of Canton, Ohio, Bishop Clifford L. Kimbrough, Jr., is the eldest child born to Deacon Clifford and Missionary Frances Kimbrough, Sr. He has been married to Catherine (Lady Loretta) Osborne-Kimbrough, for over thirty-seven years and they are the proud parents of four children. Clifford III (C.J), Monica, Camon, and Chyvonne.
Bishop Kimbrough received his elementary education in the municipal school districts of Canton, Ohio. He graduated from McKinley High School in 1967 and attended Stark Technical College and later transferred to Kent State University where he received an Associate of Arts Degree. In 1969 Bishop Kimbrough was drafted into the United States Army, where he served as a medic during the Vietnam War. Upon completion of his military duties he pursued his educational endeavors. He attended Moody Bible College and graduated with honors from Walsh University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Theology.
Bishop Kimbrough was a member of the First Church of God in Christ in Canton, Ohio and was saved in a revival conducted by Missionary Ludie Lancaster. Upon accepting his call to the ministry a few years later he was licensed to preach under the late Bishop Mack E. Jonas and ordained to the eldership of the Church of God in Christ in 1975 under the leadership of the late Bishop Robert L. Chapman.
Bishop Kimbrough has served in numerous capacities within the church: Administrative Assistant to the Bishop, Jurisdictional Secretary, District Superintendent, Vice-President of State Y.P.W.W., District and local Y.P.W.W., choir director, Young Adult Sunday School teacher, Coordinator of Christian Education for the Jurisdiction. He has served in several civic capacities as well: Post Masters Affirmative Action Board, Habitat for Humanity Committee, Town Hall Steering Committee, PAX (Program for Academic Excellence) and the Mayor’s Fair Employment Practices Board.
Bishop Kimbrough’s pastoral duties have included Reformed Church of God in Christ, Cleveland, OH, founder of Community Life Church of God in Christ, Canton, OH, and presently Jonas Temple Church of God in Christ, Cleveland, OH. He is listed in “Who’s Who in Black Cleveland” and “Who’s Who in Religion.” He has also been awarded keys to the cities of Canton, OH, and Middletown, OH. He resides in Cleveland, Ohio with his wife, Lady Loretta and two daughters.
